Every family has a story.... welcome to ours!
We are so excited to finally be writing this letter to you! Truth is, we have been wanting to write this letter to you for a long time but for some reason or another it just wasn’t the right time to begin our journey. As anxious as we were, we trusted that our paths would cross at just the right time :-)
Welcome to our crazy family!!! Brett (Dad), Candace (Mom), Sawyer 4 (Soybean), & Jamison 2 (J-Dawg). Our story began 11 years ago when we lived on opposite sides of the world. Candace saw a picture of Brett in a friends purse and instantly knew her future consisted of him being in it. One catch though... he lived in England and she lived in Texas. He was currently serving a LDS mission in London. On a whim and with the persuasion of a friend Candace decided to reach out and send him a very random letter in the mail. To her hopeful and pleasant surprise... he wrote her back! They wrote back and forth several times but Candace didn’t send any pictures of herself. She was curious to see if he would continue to write someone he never knew not knowing what she looked like. Well, he was a good sport and passed the test! Finally after 6 months of writing back and forth, she sent him a picture of herself. Guess what... He continued to write back, but double up on the mail! Through our writings we discovered that we had only lived 20 minutes apart for many years and somehow never crossed paths. A year and a half later Brett came home but we would be living in different states at that time. However as fate would have it, on the way home from his mission, Brett happened to have a 6 hour layover at the Dallas, Texas airport close to where Candace was living. They finally after a year and a half of writing we met in person :-) The rest is history! A year after he came home, we were married in the Dallas Texas Temple and were ready to begin our lives together.
A few years later, we excitedly began our journey to grow our family. Months of trying turned into years and we started seeking help of medical professionals. With every procedure in the book being done and every test being tested we were diagnosed with “unexplained infertility”. We had made arrangements to do In-Vitro fertilization and when the time came to actually begin the process, we prayed about it and had hesitation. We rescheduled it for the following month to give us time to see if this was really what we were supposed to do. When the time came, we knew this was not the answer. We were then delicately prompted to take the road less traveled.... the amazing road of adoption. The same day we decided not to move forward with In-Vitro was the very same day we found out about our son Sawyer. The moment we met his awesome Birth Parents everything just fell into place. A few months later Sawyer was born and our entire world became so much more amazingly delicious. We also realized that more than one adoption happened that day. In addition to us adopting Sawyer, we adopted his Birth Family and in return they adopted us. It has been 4 years since he was born and we still talk to them weekly. We knew that we would love them, but we never imagined the intensity of what that love would become in sharing this little boy we all love.
2 years later we felt prompted to adopt again and a few months after that we were contacted by our youngest son, Jamisons', Birth Mother. We communicated back and forth for a while and then by chance we met in person while we were vacationing in the state she lived in. Again when we met her, everything fell into place and it felt so right. The little boy we share was born a few months later and again everything made perfect sense. We are so grateful that Heavenly Father saw the needs of all of our hearts and the needs of our child so much that he brought us together to make a family. We love her so much and see her often :-) We're excited as the years progress for our children to know their history of love & recognize similarities in both families (adoptive & birth family.)
It’s been almost 3 years since Jamison was born and now we are prayerfully on our journey to find the final piece to our puzzle. You. We don’t know your name(s) .... we don’t know what you look like, but we can feel Heavenly Father’s love for you in a very unique and specific way. We have had some very sacred impressions that there is something very special about you specifically. His love for you is very tender and we are grateful that we feel that already. You have been on our minds for a long time and we can’t wait to finally meet you and add you all to our family tree. It wasn’t until our boys were placed in our arms that everything made complete sense. All the pain and struggle we went through not being able to start our family was not in vain. What the Lord had in store for our grafted family was greater than anything we could have created ourselves. In our minds... our bodies were always designed this way for a reason..for adoption. For that we are so so grateful! We love what our story has become :-)
We LOVE life! We appreciate the little things and live to explore the unknown. We love to experience the world instead of just reading about it. So we do... we travel a lot. We appreciate the earth so being outside and being one with nature is fun for us ; ) We make lots of videos of our adventures to share with our families out of state and with our Birth Families. When you go as long as we did longing for children, all you can do is dream about all the things you will do when you do have them. We have many ambitions to fulfill ahead. Our kids are wild and crazy and we wouldn’t want it any other way. They will make some pretty amazing big brothers and they are so excited to have a new brother or sister to take with them on their wild adventures. We love marshmallows, bubbles, water fights, forts, backyard campouts and anything adventurous. We will try almost anything once.... Being random is our is our speciality! We love the Lord, we love our families, we love animals (especially dogs) , & we love adoption. We have very loving, respectful open adoptions with both of our sons Birth Families, and we would love to have that same relationship with you too.
We hope you are just as anxious to get to know us as we are to get to know you. Feel free to ask us ANYTHING you like. We’re an open book. We know the reason we needed to wait for this new journey was because we needed you guys specifically. We know this is a big leap of faith decision for you and hope somehow we can bring you some peace. If we are your child’s parents.... then you will feel it and we will too. Take a deep breath & know it WILL be ok. We already love you a ton and we can't wait to squeeze you!
Lots and Lots of Love,
Brett, Candace, Sawyer, & Jamison
